Private Dining in Brantford
Private dining in Brantford, at the member’s table: The Brantford Club keeps its dining rooms at 98 George Street, where executive chef Eric Wasylenky cooks a seasonal menu for lunches, dinners, and quiet occasions. Ask about a date by email, and a person answers.
The Brantford Club is a private business and social club at 98 George Street, and its dining rooms have been serving the same address since 1898. A private dinner here takes a room of the house, a menu planned with the kitchen, and guests brought in at your side, and you do not need to be a member to book one. The house itself is an Italianate residence built around 1855, older than the City of Brantford, and dinner has been part of its work from the beginning; the Club opened on the last night of 1898 with refreshments against the winter cold.
What does private dining at The Brantford Club look like?
A private dinner at The Brantford Club takes one of the house’s own rooms: a table set for your party, a menu settled with the kitchen beforehand, and service that belongs to your evening rather than to a public floor. There is no walk-through traffic and no second seating waiting for the table. Lunch runs the same way on a smaller scale, which is how a good deal of Brantford’s business has been settled since 1898. The evening is arranged by email or a phone call, and the details, the room, the courses, the hour, are a conversation rather than a form.
The Rooms That Dine
A private table here can be five chairs or sixty. By the Club’s own count the smallest private rooms seat eight, the long table upstairs seats sixteen, and the main floor dining room seats up to sixty, with the pub for a standing reception of eighty once the business day is done.

A Menu from Chef Eric Wasylenky
“Every private dinner is planned around the occasion before it is planned around the menu. A working lunch and a retirement dinner are not the same meal, even when the room is the same room.”
Eric Wasylenky, Executive Chef
The kitchen at The Brantford Club runs under executive chef Eric Wasylenky, from a working lunch to full evening service, and the menu follows the season. The Club’s signature Churchill Pork Chops carry the name of the house’s most famous guest, and the seasonal menu shows what the kitchen is serving now. For a private dinner the menu is planned with you: courses chosen ahead, the table’s preferences taken at booking, and the kitchen told your party’s needs before the first plate is set.
The particulars of a booking
A private dining enquiry needs three things to start: the occasion, a preferred date, and roughly how many chairs. Menus and rooms are settled with the kitchen and Club Manager Sabrina Van Leeuwen, and the menu and the room fee, where one applies, are quoted together with the date. A booking is held with a deposit equal to the room fee, not returned if the dinner is cancelled inside fourteen days. All food and drink comes from the Club’s kitchen and bar, with one exception: a celebration cake may be brought in, with a plating fee. The bar runs as a cash bar, a host bar, or a mix of the two.
The Member’s Table
Private dining is one of the standing privileges of the roll. Members have the house through the year, the dining room at lunch, the bar after work, and the calendar of club evenings, and they bring guests into the rooms at their side. A private dinner extends that same table to your own occasion: the host signs for the evening, and the house does the rest. If the table interests you beyond one evening, the roll is kept on the membership page, and asking is one email.
Some rooms in Brantford serve dinner; this one has been keeping the habit since 1898.
Worth the Drive
Hosts come to The Brantford Club from Brantford and Brant County, and from Paris, St. George, Cambridge, Ancaster, and Burlington. A private dining room in a c. 1855 house is not something every city keeps, and the table has been reason enough for the drive since the roads were worse.
