The house earned this work early. In the early 1900s, Brantford ranked third in Canada by value of manufactured goods exported, behind only Toronto and Montreal, and the Club opened twenty-four years into that era.

The Brantford Club occupies an Italianate residence built around 1855, older than the City of Brantford itself, which incorporated in 1877; the dates are the City of Brantford’s own heritage record, not club lore. The Club formed in May 1898, officially opened on December 31, 1898, and has hosted private functions at the same address ever since.

The house takes a party of five as readily as a party of eighty: five or eight by the fireplace in the small boardroom, twelve or sixteen at the long table upstairs, sixty seated on the main floor, eighty standing in the pub once the business day is done.

Coffee is poured before the first agenda item and lunch arrives when you break, not when the kitchen finds it convenient. There is no walk-through traffic and no second function pressing at the wall. For matters that are not ready to be public, a private club is a practical choice, not a grand one: the room keeps your business in the room.
Client dinners and business lunches
Client dinners at The Brantford Club come out of one kitchen, run by executive chef Eric Wasylenky. Menus are planned with the kitchen around the occasion: a two-course working lunch, a plated dinner for the year’s best customer, a long table for the team. Dietary requirements are confirmed in writing before the day, so the vegetarian at seat nine is expected, not accommodated. The host’s job is the conversation. The kitchen’s job is everything else.

The office Christmas party, behind a door that closes
Companies book The Brantford Club for the December party because the house does the decorating on its own: wood panelling, fireplaces, a bar that has poured for the city since 1898. Your room is yours for the night, with the Club’s staff serving and the kitchen cooking to your menu. December dates go first; the earlier the enquiry, the better the choice of rooms.
One coordinator, first call to teardown
Every corporate event at The Brantford Club is managed end to end by Club Manager Sabrina Van Leeuwen: one person from the first call to teardown, working from a written scope you have both agreed to. Enquiries are answered as quickly as we can.
A booking is held with a deposit equal to the room fee, and the deposit is not returned if the event is cancelled inside fourteen days of the date. The room is yours for the booked hours; an overtime fee applies past them. All food and drink comes through the Club’s kitchen and bar, with one exception: a celebration cake or cookies may be brought in, with a plating fee. The bar runs as a cash bar, a host bar, or a mix of the two, and a particular wine or cocktail can be brought in through the Club. Decorations stand on their own; nothing is fixed to the walls or the woodwork. Audio-visual is $50, Wi-Fi is free throughout the house, and you receive all of it on paper before you commit.
