Fume RestoBar vs The Brantford Club: A Reservation, or a Room

Fume RestoBar is a restaurant and bar at 150 Morrell Street, Brantford, open Wednesday to Saturday and reserved online, as its own site puts it. The Brantford Club is a private members’ club at 98 George Street where a party of eight to sixty is given a room of the house and a menu planned with executive chef Eric Wasylenky.

Fume RestoBar gives its particulars on its own contact page, read in September 2026. The address is 150 Morrell St, Brantford, ON N3T 4K2; the phone is 548-880-FUME, which is 548-880-3863; the email is info@fumerestobar.ca. Its hours, as that page prints them, are lunch and dinner Wednesday to Friday, from 11:30 and again from 5:00, with dinner running to 10:00 on Friday, and Saturday brunch from 10:30 with dinner from 5:00 until 10:00. The Reservations link in its menu bar goes to a Tock booking page. At 98 George Street a date is held by email instead, and what the house settles before it holds one is on its booking page. A couple who want a Friday table have their answer already. The rest of this entry is for the reader with a dinner to host.

A date held by email

The Club arranges a first dinner at 98 George Street the way it arranges a private one, by email and ahead of the night, and asks no membership for it. Put the date, the number at the table and any allergies in the message, so the kitchen knows its guests before the first plate goes out.

Write ahead for a table

A Friday Table on Morrell Street

Fume RestoBar is the right choice for the ordinary good dinner out, and its own pages make the case without help. The dinner menu it posts as a September 2026 PDF opens with a Greek salad and a beet plate under whipped feta, moves through saganaki, beef tartare, and a shrimp ceviche, and lands on a section it calls Centre Stage: a half-pound house burger, chicken souvlaki, steak frites in what the menu names Fume cowboy butter, a crispy cod in ladolemono, and a beef tenderloin cooked sous vide. Several plates are marked as available gluten free; lunch adds fish and chips. That is four days of public dining, reserved through Tock, and whoever wants exactly that should book it and enjoy it. The Brantford Club keeps no public floor and no posted hours, and it would be the wrong answer for a table of two who decided at five o’clock on a Friday.

What does it take to hold a dining room at The Brantford Club?

The Brantford Club is a private members’ club at 98 George Street, Brantford, whose dining rooms have been set since 1898 in an Italianate house of about 1855 across from the Court House. A private dinner begins with an email to manager@thebrantfordclub.com or a call to 519-752-0931 giving the occasion, a date you have in mind, and roughly how many chairs. Sabrina Van Leeuwen, the Club Manager, answers, and the room, the courses, and the hour are settled with her and with the kitchen under executive chef Eric Wasylenky. The roll and the room are separate matters: a host who has never set foot in the house may hold a dinner in it, and the enquiry is the whole of the asking. What the house offers is one room held for that party alone. How a private dinner at the house is arranged is set out in full on its own page.

Fifty Seated on Morrell Street, as Fume Publishes It

Fume RestoBar does host private events, by its events page, read in September 2026. In its own words, the space is available for a private event most days of the week, with a maximum capacity of fifty seated guests and a further sixteen for private events once the high-top tables are counted in; the page gives an email address for a booking contact. That is the restaurant’s own room offered whole, with the kitchen that wrote the posted menu cooking for the party, and for a host who wants Morrell Street to themselves for a night the events page is the door to knock on. The choice is between a restaurant taken whole for an evening and a house that was never a restaurant to begin with.

The allergy line, at both kitchens

Fume’s menu asks that you advise your server of any allergies, which is how a public kitchen learns the table. At 98 George Street the kitchen learns the party at booking: dietary needs are taken when the date is set, and Chef Eric’s kitchen is told before the first plate goes out. Both are sound; they happen at different hours.

What each address publishes about itself is set out below, from Fume RestoBar’s own pages and from the Club’s. The Club’s dress code is quoted from its policies page, and its room counts from the Club’s own hosting sheet of September 2026.

The Long Table for Sixteen and the Room for Sixty

The Brantford Club sorts a private dinner by its count. A party of eight to sixteen goes upstairs, where the Large Dining Room seats sixteen at one long table and the door closes on the landing; a company evening goes to the Main Floor Dining Room, up to sixty seated, with a portable projector for the slide somebody insisted on. Those two figures are from the Club’s own hosting sheet; the rest of the house, five to eighty, is on the private dining page. A seated engagement dinner takes that same long table, and the Journal keeps a note of who gives one and when it falls before the wedding. Two of the terms are worth knowing before the first email. A deposit equal to the room fee holds the night. All food and drink comes through the Club’s own kitchen and bar, with a celebration cake the single exception, brought in for a plating fee. The remaining terms are on the same page. The Journal has put a like question to the Italian dining room on Paris Road, with a family dinner as the occasion.

What the Kitchen Cooks When It Knows the Party

Executive chef Eric Wasylenky runs the kitchen at The Brantford Club from a working lunch to full evening service, and his season’s dishes and the cellar list are posted together. For a private dinner the posted menu is the starting point and the party is the brief: courses chosen ahead with the host, the count given to the kitchen, and on the night the plates arrive for people the kitchen already knows are coming. The one dish that stays is the Churchill Pork Chops, named for the guest who signed the Register on January 3, 1901, according to the Club’s centennial history. A company that wants its evening run to a clock, the first course at seven, the toast before the main, coffee by half past nine, can have the kitchen paced to it, because the kitchen has one room to feed. That is the whole of the Club’s case, made without a word against the restaurant on Morrell Street.

“Most private dinners get a week, because that is how long it takes to get the menu right and the dietary needs confirmed in writing. A host who walks in with the menu already decided can have it in a day.”

Eric Wasylenky, Executive Chef

On Morrell Street the evening is served to whoever reserved it. On George Street it is served to the one party whose name is on the room, as it has been since 1898.

Before you pick up the phone

Does Fume RestoBar take reservations online?

Yes. The Reservations link on its site goes to a Tock booking page, and its contact page gives 548-880-FUME, which dials as 548-880-3863, and the email info@fumerestobar.ca. Its hours run Wednesday to Saturday, as its contact page prints them.

Can Fume RestoBar be booked for a private party?

By its events page, yes. The space is available for a private event most days of the week, with a maximum of fifty seated guests and a further sixteen counting the high-top tables, and the page gives an email address for the booking. Those are Fume’s own figures, read in September 2026.

Can a company hold an evening for sixty at The Brantford Club?

Yes. The Main Floor Dining Room takes up to sixty seated and carries a portable projector and screen, by the Club’s own hosting sheet, and it is held for that one party for the night. Club Manager Sabrina Van Leeuwen settles the date, the menu, and the run of the evening by email.

What should guests wear to a dinner upstairs at The Brantford Club?

Smart casual, by the Club’s own policies page: collarless t-shirts, shorts, ripped jeans, and hats are not permitted in the dining rooms. A collared shirt and trousers carry any guest through the house.

Does the kitchen at The Brantford Club handle allergies for a private party?

The party’s needs are taken at booking and passed to the kitchen before the first plate is set. Tell the Club Manager the count, the dietary needs, and the courses you have in mind in the first email, and the kitchen plans around them.
