Affinity Conference Centre vs The Brantford Club: The Conference Floor and the Boardroom Door

Affinity Conference Centre, at 30 Fen Ridge Court, is a banquet and conference centre with a 7,800-square-foot Grand Ballroom by its own listing, built for the trade show and the gala. The Brantford Club, at 98 George Street since 1898, is a private members’ club whose boardroom and dining rooms take the board that needs a door and the client dinner after the conference.

The first chooses the building, and for two hundred delegates with a trade floor it chooses Fen Ridge Court without much argument. The second chooses the door, and for the board of nine that needs a room nobody walks through, a loading dock is the wrong shape of answer. The Club’s own corporate page names four rooms, the main dining room, the 98 George Room, the boardroom, and the Bateson Lounge, and lists the work they are set for: board meetings, seminars, mediations, client dinners, and company celebrations. A house of rooms takes a committee, a training day, and the dinner that follows a day spent somewhere larger. Your event coordinator answers a specific head count by email, room by room, once they know the date and the shape of the day, and the reply comes with the terms in writing before you commit to anything.

Affinity Conference Centre, by Its Own Listing

Affinity Conference Centre describes itself as a banquet and convention centre for weddings, corporate conferences, trade shows, social events, and Indian and South Asian celebrations. Its corporate page says the Grand Ballroom is composed of three sections totalling 7,800 square feet, with built-in sound, rear projection, and wireless internet, and that smaller private meeting rooms sit beside it for executive board meetings and training sessions. The ballroom divides, as its own listing has it, into halls and conference suites for groups of fifty or a hundred. Accommodation is on site at the TownePlace Suites by Marriott, parking is free, and catering is by Bingemans Catering, a partnership its site dates from September 1, 2026. For a wedding, Affinity Conference Centre is the answer, and the Club makes no case otherwise. For the trade show, the two-hundred-seat conference, and the gala with a dance floor, it is the answer as well, because scale is what a conference centre is for.

The Boardroom and the Dining Room at 98 George Street

The Brantford Club is a private members’ club in an Italianate house raised about 1855, the former residence of Dr. John Y. Bown, bought by the Club in 1898 and set for the business of the city since the door opened on December 31 of that year. The Charter that hung in the dining room states the purpose in seven words, “to establish and maintain a social club,” and the rooms still answer to it. When a company books the boardroom, the door closes on that meeting and stays closed; nobody is setting up on the other side of a folding wall. The kitchen is in the building, under executive chef Eric Wasylenky, so the working lunch arrives at the table and the client dinner after the conference is served in the same house an hour later. Every event space carries Wi-Fi and conference technology for hybrid calls.
